But it also begins a new season of home-preschooling for our children.

In the next few weeks I hope to begin potty-training Naomi (it'll be nice to have that diaper money back in our meager pockets). I know from my experience with Gideon, that I need to have prayers on my behalf in preparation for this new milestone, or I won't have the patience to follow through with it. :)

Also, the year 2010 is a year of discipline for our family. We are adding the disicpline of daily Bible reading with the kids, daily exercise for me, and healthy eating for all of us.

The Lord is our strength through all of this.

As you know, when we were called to leave our life in Florida behind to pursue JR's degree more vigorously, we left all forms of steady income behind. We know that the Lord is and will continue to provide for us. However, looking at our finances, we are faced with the fact that the money the Lord allowed us to save up for this will run out by this summer. We are in prayer that He will guide us to the opportunities He has prepared in advance for us.

We are blessed by your prayers for us.Daishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05312268640052066833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-278742095194222129.post-1106258205176246092009-10-26T06:40:00.000-07:002009-10-26T07:13:46.765-07:00Prayers for the WeekThis weekend is the Harding Homecoming musical. Not only am I heavily involved with the show, but family and friends will be arriving this weekend.

JR and I are so thankful for the times we get to spend just the 4 of us. Our family trip to the pumpkin patch on Friday was just what we needed.

We are still in prayer and discussion about if we should move our family up to Memphis, or if the Lord is providing for us here to keep us in Searcy. Please join us in this journey of discernment.

We are blessed beyond measure.Daishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05312268640052066833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-278742095194222129.post-76703568749426708042009-10-19T09:03:00.000-07:002009-10-19T09:05:25.412-07:00Prayers for the WeekThings are rushing into crunch time with the musical, JR's schooling has several things falling on the same day next week, and additional jobs (for me) are adding to our busyness.

However, we can see God acting in our lives. We have been running lots of different scenarios past each other and talking about the pros and cons of each. We are praying for discernment and clarity as well as focus.

Yesterday, we both (independently) got "flashes" of something that seems to be pointing in the same direction. Please join us in prayer as we flesh out this idea and gather more information about it.

Gideon seems to be doing better with his adjusting. And I'm not quite as up-turned as I felt last week.

The musical is in full swing as we race toward production in 2 weeks. I have rehearsals almost every night this week, and WILL have them every day next week.

God is good. He provides for us according to His Glorious Purposes. Thankfully, JR was in town and driving when they both happened. We discovered that the tires were original to the car (1996). And thankfully, almost the entire price we unexpectedly had to pay was covered by JR's check from Downtown being twice what he thought it would be. Praise God!

G seems to be doing better with the transition for now. But I'm having a hard time, currently.

The family is sick again with the allergy stuff.

As always, we are praying about where God wants to use us for His glory. His spending half the week away from us is not what either of us want. We are looking into altering our arrangements from very small changes (stacking his classes on one day) to large changes (moving to Memphis). We are praying for discernment in this.

Gideon seems to be taking this transition the hardest. We are praying especially for him.

We are still in prayer about where God wants to use us.

Blessings of family, friendships, and grace continually fall on us.Daishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05312268640052066833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-278742095194222129.post-84846820989245537652009-09-21T11:49:00.000-07:002009-09-21T11:51:12.136-07:00Prayers for the WeekJR and I are still working out the kinks of our busy schedules. Please keep them in your prayers, as we are.

JR and I are very thankful for the anniversary/birthday weekend get away that we had. Thankful for my aunt and uncle who offered the cabin... thankful for my parents, who watched the kids... and thankful to spend time reconnecting.

This coming week, JR and I are focusing our prayers on where God is leading us. We are praying about specific direction in regards to Scotland. Please join us in praying for discernment in this area.

Thank you for your support. Gideon begins preschool at Carpenter's Kids. (Tuesday)
2. JR and I celebrate 4 years of marriage. (Thursday)
3. JR turns 30! (Friday)

In addition to the milestones, JR has a term paper due on his birthday which is taking up a LOT of his already stretched-to-the-max time. Rehearsals for "Scrooge" kick into full gear. And, thankfully, I have been contracted to work in conjunction with Think Advertising (Mat Faulkner's company) to cover an event opening (Thursday) as a photographer. Friday JR and I are leaving the kids behind with my parents and sneaking away to my uncle Wayne's cabin for a 24 hr. "retreat/anniversary/b-day" get-away.

Actually, my uncle's timing with his offer to let us use the cabin was providential in itself. While he was leaving me a message about offering it, JR and I were talking about how for our anniversary we just wanted to find a place to get away. I even said, "I'm not talking expensive here... I mean, like asking if someone has a cabin on a lake we can spend a night in." (and that's exactly what we are doing. God is awesome even in the small things. :)

So those are the things we are praying about this week in regards to our family.

Thanks for praying for us.Daishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05312268640052066833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-278742095194222129.post-73881850310636480432009-08-31T06:19:00.000-07:002009-08-31T06:25:34.291-07:00Prayers for the WeekWe are adding new things every week to our "To Do" list here in Searcy.

Last night, in addition to teaching the university class at Downtown on Sunday mornings, he also had some responsibilities at the evening communion service.

I have started my work with the Children's directing in the Harding Homecoming musical.

Which means, that we have hit the point where we are passing each other and the kids off. In fact, yesterday our schedules and meetings over-lapped. But we are blessed to be living with multiple family members who were willing to watch them in our absence.

Gideon has his "preview" day of preschool this Thursday. He'll be really excited about it when I mention it to him.

As you can tell, we are busy and adjusting. Last night, JR said, "I've never worked so hard and gotten paid so little!" It's true. But it's also amazing to see how God is providing for us. He is good.Daishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05312268640052066833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-278742095194222129.post-38572708267116191252009-08-27T19:04:00.000-07:002009-08-27T19:13:03.815-07:00And we're back...With the family around and the busyness of moving, I have neglected this blog. Thanks for praying for us in non-specific ways.

Here is what we are focusing our prayers on this week:
-We continue to transition to our new home and schedules. The change in schedules has been the most disruptive so far. The kids wake up WAY earlier here, JR is gone for half the week, and JR and I both have meetings peppered throughout the week.
-We are all on the mend from the allergy-induced infections that hit all of us. Dr. Dan hooked us up with medicine and a plan to keep this stuff at bay while living here.
-Children's auditions are coming up tomorrow and continue all weekend.
-JR and I met and prayed with another couple about looking into forming a mission team to Scotland. This is all in the very beginning stages. But I must say... I've been praying for this since 1999 (no exaggeration).

We are so blessed by the graciousness of my family (allowing us to live with them), the Hackers (allowing JR to stay with them while he's in Memphis), and everyone who is open-arm-ed-ly welcoming us into the Searcy community.

JR is doing well in school. He also did a great job with the university class at Downtown on Sunday. He told a little bit of his story, shared teaching responsibilities with Monte Cox, and gave everyone ALL of his contact information. May God's will be done there!

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers.
(Also, we were alerted to the fact that our "Support" button didn't connect to our PayPal account. I have fixed that.)
-DaishaDaishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05312268640052066833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-278742095194222129.post-74767307322119617392009-07-13T11:32:00.000-07:002009-07-13T11:36:12.695-07:00Prayers for the WeekJR is in Memphis for class this week. His mid-term is tomorrow.

He also is supposed to have an interview for a teaching position at Downtown for this fall. We aren't sure when that is supposed to take place, but we are still praying about it. :)

Safe travels for Brent, Kelli, Rachel, and Simon who come to town on Wednesday. And JR will be driving home as soon as his class ends Saturday afternoon.

I have more photo shoots lined up and photo viewings to schedule in to all the family stuff (not to mention the editing stuff). So I am praying that I use my time wisely and take the time out for the people that I need to.

We are blessed beyond measure!Daishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05312268640052066833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-278742095194222129.post-43443074079026978532009-07-07T07:03:00.000-07:002009-07-07T07:06:01.832-07:00Prayers for the WeekHannah and Sam are married. And JR enjoyed his time with the kids. So, praises on both counts for that.

Hannah and Sam get married on Sunday afternoon. We are praying many blessings over them and their marriage.

I have another photo-shoot tomorrow (Tues.) and one on Saturday. Doing so many close together is giving me a more realistic idea of the time involved in custom portraiture. And if I can line up 2-3 photo shoots a week when I'm not doing the sittings for free, I might actually be able to make some money at this! :)

JR's intensive course for the summer is coming up and he is reading a lot in preparation for that. He also just took over teaching the college class at Meridian Woods.

Thank you for praying for us.Daishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05312268640052066833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-278742095194222129.post-64106592319892068572009-06-22T10:02:00.000-07:002009-06-22T10:05:37.378-07:00Prayers for the WeekWe are praising God for His blessings of friends and family.

The photo shoot last week went well. And the family loved the pictures. This just bolsters my confidence in my growing photography skills. I have several more shoots lined up.

I travel to DC this weekend to spend time with Hannah before she and Sam get married. So, we are praying for safe travels and a good weekend for me. So I've been getting things ready for that. Pray that everything goes smoothly and that my "clients" get a professional experience.

JR ordered his computer for school and it should come later this week. We've saved up money for this purchase, but as it comes time to spend the money we've saved, it becomes harder to part with it. Pray that we aren't holding onto money as if it is anything more than a means to an end.

Gideon is going through a phase where he is testing us for boundaries. Pray that we are consistent, fair, and patient.Daishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05312268640052066833noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-278742095194222129.post-41717846102270181492009-06-08T10:09:00.000-07:002009-06-08T10:12:11.660-07:00Prayers for the WeekAdvance '09 was a great experience.
